Mutual Improvement Society
November 18th 1864.
Another season of lectures has commenced here. The opening one was delivered by one of the members of the Mutual Improvement Society in the village schoolroom here, on Tuesday the 15th inst. The lecturer chose for his subject,”History” and showed the importance of the study of history, and some of the lessons to be learned from it. The lecture was listened to attentively by the audience. This is now the fifth season of these lectures, and during the last four Winters there have been read to the Society about forty papers on different subjects, most of which were read by working-men belonging to Gargunnock. Can any other village in Stirlingshire tell–the same tale?
