Gargunnock Parish School
March 22nd 1861
On Monday the I8th inst., the Parish School here was examined by a committee of the Presbytery of Stirling, consisting of the Rev. Messrs. Alexander and Wilson, Stirling; and Stark, Gargunnock. Some very respectable parents and others were present; the children, as they always are, were remarkably clean and tidy; the subjects, in which they were searchingly examined, were English Reading, English Grammar, writing, geography, arithmetic, Latin and Greek. Mr. Alexander complimented the scholars on their discipline and general attainments, but more especially on English Grammar and Latin and earnestly exhorted them on the importance of youth both as to time and eternity. Mr. Stark pronounced the blessing.
