Gala day is a wonderful village tradition. Every year a boy and girl from the Primary 7 class of Gargunnock Primary School are chosen to be the Laird of Gargunnock and the Gala Queen. All of the people of the village (adults as well as children) are invited to dress up and parade through the village streets from the school to the park.
We are often unlucky with weather despite the day being the 3rd Saturday of June but that doesn’t stop the village people from joining in.
Prizes are awarded for fancy dress costumes, there are sports events and side stalls and a wonderful tea room full of home baking. Children in fancy dress all receive a goody bag of sweets and juice and an ice cream.
