East Lodge B&B

East Lodge is set in beautiful, unspoilt countryside approximately 6 miles for the historic town of Stirling.   We are situated at the edge of the charming village of Gargunnock.

East Lodge was formally the gamekeepers house when it was part of Leckie estate.   The original lodge dates from the early 19th century; we have extended and modernised the lodge offering very comfortable and peaceful accommodation.

History.

There is an enormous amount of history associated with the Leckie estate from an ancient broch (Fortified house) dating from the first and second century AD, Leckie Castle built in the 16th Century, seventeenth and eighteenth century bridges and a ruined watermill.  Leckie House is an Gothic mansion built in the 1820,s it is a beautiful building of mellowed stone with gothic windows and gables topped by decorative cornices and finials.    Leckie once belonged to King Robert the Bruce and Prince Charles Stewart stayed in Leckie castle which was the last house he occupied in the Lowlands on his ill-starred march to the North and defeat on Culloden Moor. The grounds surrounding East Lodge are made up of gardens, lawns and planted woodlands. The woodlands were the results of the work of Professor Robert Graham professor of medicine and Keeper of the Kings Garden.  He was the principle founder of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh in 1840.
