If you have enjoyed exploring the gardens around Gargunnock Estate and wish to find out more about Willie Campbell’s ongoing work there, or if you simply enjoy gardening but would like to learn more, then read on. This group met for the first time last month in the parkland gardens surrounding Gargunnock House. ‘Friends’ worked hard to plant bags of daffodils around the woodland walks. They were rewarded with a tour of the gardens and a presentation on autumn tasks in the garden. This month, the ‘Friends’ will help rhododendron planting on Sunday November 25. Each session will begin with a cup of coffee and a briefing - at the stables behind the main house. Gardeners should each bring their own gloves, appropriate clothing and footwear, a spade and a packed lunch. People wishing to attend a session must give their names in advance to Willie Campbell (01786 860392) to enable him to manage the work programme effectively. The session will start at 10.30am and should end by mid-afternoon. Those wishing to escape Christmas shopping should also note that a December session is planned for Sunday December 23rd 2007. If you have any queries or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact either Willie Campbell or Helen Cumming (860253).
