The Gargunnock Festival – Poetry
This is not just going to be a festival of music – other performing arts will also be celebrated. The village has a strong tradition of performance of its poetry – as was demonstrated by the village WRI team that represented Stirlingshire in a national WRI competition in Fochabers last year. All local poets are welcome to join this team in celebrating the performance of their art in the Festival’s Poetry night on Monday 15th May.
Wendy Pizey is currently working to gather together poetry from as many local poets as possible (past and present) into a book to celebrate the area’s rich talent in verse. Poems of all lengths, serious or comic, but ideally with a loosely local theme, will be considered. The book has already been launched and can be purchased in the village shop.
