Plans are underway for the 2007 Gargunnock Gala on Thursday June 14th (village BBQ) and Saturday June 16th (Gala Day). For the first time this year we plan to have an overall theme to the Gala although this does not mean fancy dress has to match our theme. Our theme this year is the Wild West and, with the help of the school, we plan to decorate the village accordingly. We are delighted to welcome our new primary school head teacher, Mr Angus Black and his wife to be our judges for the day. Our Laird and Queen will be chosen from the Primary 7 children in the near future. We are also pleased to announce that the parade this year will be led by our local piper Gordon Haggerty accompanied by the rest of the pipe band. We know you will appreciate the spectacle of a pipe band parading up Main Street. We will again be having a Best Dressed Street competition, so get your decorations planned. Our Laird and Queen will be judging the entries this year. There will be the annual tug o war competition at the BBQ on Thursday and this year our special event will be a bungee run. Gala day will see the usual events and side stalls but this year, for the first time, ALL side stalls will be FREE to try. We plan to charge only for tombola, raffle and tea room. The Gala committee wishes to reiterate that ALL money made at the BBQ and Gala Day goes towards funding following Galas. We NEED your support at the BBQ and Gala to allow us to continue this fantastic village tradition. We are still looking for people to help with some of the organisation and we will need more adults to help with stalls, tea room etc on the day. Please either phone Jane on 287, or speak to Jane B or Maitland. |
