The day was bright but cold when Mrs Helen Scott opened this years Gargunnock Flower Show. Mrs Scott remarked on the outstanding display of fruit, vegetables, flowers, baking and handicrafts which was a credit to the local community and praised the efforts of the committee, the exhibitors and the village people for coming along to view all the hard work. After all the poor weather conditions we have been having over the past few weeks, the committee were delighted to welcome many new competitors and it seems that the growing of vegetables in Gargunnock is on the up.
This years main trophy the Committee Shield was won by Ronnie Carson just edging out last years winner Willie Campbell with Bill Nicol a close third. In the baking and handicrafts section Catherine Richardson holding of the attentions of Fiona Cambell and Janet Iffla.
